Have you heard the ABC promos for the Vince Gill-Amy Grant piece on Primetime Thursday tonight?
These salacious promos promise the whole story behind their relationship, suggesting that we might finally get the truth about whether they cheated on respective spouses before they got married.
1. Who gives a hoot?!??!?! And 2. It doesn't really answer that question at all.
In the past, Amy has denied breaking marriage vows and Vince has chosen not to talk about it. Looks like Vince did that again.
Vince's response, verbatim, according to ABC: ''Well, the bottom line is I've never felt the need to try to convince everybody, um, you know, all I can do is help the truth from my vantage point and my side of the story. … And for me to try to tell the other side is disrespectful, and so I never felt concerned about convincing the rest of the world of my righteousness or my place was right or wrong ... or whatever.
''I said, look we got to this day how we got to this day. You can add up the numbers and decide what you want. But I'm the one who has to answer to myself when I put my head down at the end of the day, and I know what I have and haven't done.''
For the record, the piece talks about lots of stuff, including their careers and their kids. But ABC decided to plug tasty topics only, something that concerned Vince's spokeswoman.
''The promos were kind of extreme,'' publicist Erin Morris said. ''Then again, I'm aware in TV that the promos are often more sensational than the story itself.''
And so it is with this story.
Primetime Thursday airs at 9 p.m. on News 2.
