With more than 20 years in the music industry, Bob Carlisle has seen many changes both in the industry and in himself. He returns August 22nd with his new album entitled The Truth.
The new project will see Carlisle turn over the production reins to friend and fellow songwriter Reggie Hamm, who produced the Dove-nominated "I Will Follow Christ" which featured Carlisle in a trio with BeBe Winans and Clay Crosse.
It will also be a return to his soulful roots that Bob was known for throughout his career. After the success of "Butterfly Kisses" took him to a more orchestral-style in the past album, Hamm takes Bob back to his foundational music.
"I still had all of the creative input I wanted, but it was nice to step back and watch someone I trust take the reins," says Carlisle. "I got back into the more 'muscular Bob' vocally, and pulled back to the rock and gospel influenced roots that I love."
Highlights on the album include the first single, "Forgiveness," the touching "After All," co-written with Randy Stonehill, and the title track, "The Truth," which revisits the Latino music he grew up with in southern California.
"The essence of the title is the truth, and how far I am from it sometimes," says Carlisle. "I try to be very honest with my music and the songs I write and record. We all have days that we look in the mirror and don't recognize the person staring back at us, and days that we are simply amazed at what God has given to us-our families, children, friends."
Another twist in the new project is a funky cover of "Baby, Baby," the song that helped make Amy Grant a household name in pop music.
The Truth will be available on August 22nd.
