According to an official press release from their management companies, Amy Grant and Gary Chapman announced on December 30, 1998 that they are separating after 16 years of marriage. They asked for prayers and that their privacy be respected.

During the Jan. 16 weekend broadcast of "The CCM Countdown with Gary Chapman" (produced by CCM RADIO), Chapman, who is and will continue to be the program's host, will address the situation with listeners.
